Project challenge

Mobbing support is a cooperation project between PLECS and Swedbank Life Insurance SE.

Mobbing can pose serious risks to children's physical and mental health. Children involved in mobbing are at higher risk of mental health problems, anxiety, depression, addictive behaviour, lower school performance, dropping out of school and poorer life chances. It is therefore important for parents to pay attention and be aware of the signs that their child may be at risk of mobbing and to intervene quickly to help their child. According to statistics, 11% of children in the Baltic States are exposed to bullying, mainly between the ages of 7 and 17.

Over the years and through the various initiatives we have implemented, we have noticed that the role of parents in helping their children is often left behind. We believe that it is essential to achieve long-term results.

Jānis Erts • Founder and CEO of PLECS

Mobbing support is designed primarily for parents - giving them the tools they need to help their children both immediately and in the long term.

About the project

Plecs has been fighting mobbing for many years. The initiative is based on finding innovative solutions to create systemic change by educating parents and teaching children to integrate into society. Previously, it was managed manually, so it was difficult to summarise and fully evaluate each stage a child went through.

To address and manage this challenge in a modern way, the client turned to Midis. Relying on our experience in developing customer portals, our team decided to create a solution with a user-friendly interface and a wide range of user scenarios. It was necessary to create a portal for the parent or guardian of the child to apply for help in a simple way, which includes screening to assess the situation, verification, i.e. connecting to the Swedbank system to detect the existence of insurance, as well as complete management of the situation with the child, starting from the consultation with the specialist application and ending with the successful integration of the child into society.

Customer portal

From an idea in your head to a sophisticated customer portal. Our team of business analysts fully immersed themselves in the business processes and assessed the expected risks, resulting in the definition of the most appropriate solution and the range of technologies required.

Technologies used:

PHP (Laravel, Laravel Nova), Vue.js, Inertia.js, PostgreSQL

Understanding the business logic, the following roles were defined:

  • user (who sees the start screen);
  • the child's parent or guardian;
  • a therapist or psychologist;
  • other roles carrying out different levels of administrative tasks.

Annual insurance act

In Estonia, Swedbank's anti-bullying life insurance service, which supports parents and their children in cases of bullying, was chosen as the insurance act of the year (in a competition of 8 events) - https://mobstop.ee

The Midis team is really proud to be part of something really big, because this problem, which is not something most of society is aware of on a daily basis, could turn into a big problem for children suffering from bullying in the future.

Task

Create a systematized solution that allows full case management.

Solution

Customer self-service portal with multiple user roles. The solution is user-friendly with an intuitive interface where you can view different reports, and manage the workload of specialists and the history of each case.

Result

The client digitally manages mobbing cases, records the screening, and, based on this, determines the eligibility of the case for mobbing, allows the appointment of a therapist, and guides the child to a successful outcome.
